It is never too soon

Summer is here and no, it’s not too early.

Babies, toddlers and preschoolers develop new skills much faster than you think. Whether it was a motor skill, language skill or a social skill, everything takes time to be improved and mastered but has to be introduced from day one, or maybe even a little bit earlier!

Have you heard about all those skills your baby learns in the womb? A baby is born with strong muscles because a fetus exercises and moves around for half an hour and then rests for half an hour, and he’s ready to enjoy his first meal because he started swallowing since the second trimester of pregnancy. It’s also the case for language development too; studies have shown that fetuses learn prenatally about the particular speech sounds of a mother’s language.

There is a kind of magic and super power in those early childhood years, and we’ve got to make the best out of this stage.

With the summer time being here, it’s a new opportunity to spend longer hours with your child and to immerse her with as much learning opportunities as possible:

- Practice what we call Self Talk and Parallel talk which refers to talking about everything you do and see and about everything your child is doing and exploring.

- Let your child move around and explore the taste of outdoors and nature, the play experience is incomparable to any indoor activity.

- Introduce that second or third language and don’t be afraid, all the myths were cleared and you’ve got the green light to raise a bilingual child. If you’re travelling back home, the grandparents will naturally do a great job teaching your child unforgettable words and expressions.

- Teach your child to cook and embrace all the mess around.

- Teach your child to play a music instrument and create that synchronized chaos.

All we need is to provide the little ones with as many opportunities to learn as possible.

It’s not too early and never too soon.
